Over the last several weeks, CoSIDA has rolled out its newest community and collaboration platform — Slack. Slack has two huge advantages for members: (1) it allows for real-time conversation and/or collaboration centered around a specific topic, and (2) it keeps your inbox uncluttered.

Participation in Slack is voluntary. You can join the Slack community by clicking on the invitation link here or by contacting CoSIDA staff member Laurie Bollig (lauriebollig@cosida.com).

Slack replaces CoSIDA Connect, which will no longer be accessible to members as of September 21. If you have any documents you would like to retrieve from Connect, please do so before then.

Within Slack, CoSIDA has a dedicated workspace called CoSIDA Membership. The workspace is composed of channels. Channels are where the magic happens — real-time communication and collaboration around specific or general topics.

Current public channels available on CoSIDA Membership:
  • #announcements (general CoSIDA announcements; members are automatically part of this channel)
  • #cosida-membership (general CoSIDA discussion; members are automatically part of this channel)
  • #health-wellbeing (discussion centered around member health and well-being; any member can join)
  • #kudos (appreciation and recognition for peers; any member can join)
  • #racial-social-justice (discussion on racial and social justice issues; any member can join)

Slack also has the ability for members to:
  • direct message colleagues
  • upload files for sharing
  • initiate video and audio calls from within the app

As with any discussion forum, members are expected to be civil and respectful in their conversations. While the workspace is private, not all channels are.

Currently, committees and the Executive Board of Directors are using Slack for member-driven communication and discussion.
