McKenzie Garrison – NJCAA, Director of Marketing & Communications

McKenzie Garrison joined the National Junior College Athletic Association when the national organization moved its national headquarters to Charlotte, NC. From Colorado Spring, Colorado. This past December, she was named Director of Marketing & Communications after serving as assistant director. She coordinates and manages the newly revamped NJCAA website and the NJCAA Network and serves as the primary media contact for football, DI men's basketball, and DI baseball.
She is a former four-year volleyball student-athlete, competing at NCAA Division II Catawba University and graduating in 2017 with a degree in sport management. She earned a master's in sport and entertainment management at the University of South Carolina in 2018.
In her video, Garrison gives her perspective of being at the NJCAA office, the initiatives in sports information/publicity/engagement that the conference is doing, particularly during COVID-19, and the importance of collaboration and building relationships with campus SIDs.
Garrison served as an instructor during an Educational Lounge session at the 2019 CoSIDA Convention in Orlando, FL. Her topic was on how the NJCAA utilizes Adobe Spark pages for interactive championship recaps.
Garrison was a four-year volleyball student-athlete at Catawba College (Salibury, NC) where she received her undergraduate degree in sport management in 2017.
Through the NJCAA’s partnership with the American VolleyballCoaches Association (AVCA), Garrison attended the 2019 NCAA DI Volleyball Championship in Minneapolis, MN, in conjunction with the AVCA Convention and the NJCAA Volleyball Coaches Association meeting.
