It's Stabley Writing Contest time …

Now that we've all returned to the fields of play after Covid interrupted all of us from doing what we usually do, a sense of normalcy returns as the annual Fred Stabley Sr. Writing Contest reopens for another year.

And, with the competitive nature of our profession well-known, who wants to take on King-of-the-Hill, Stanford University's David Kiefer, who collected his fourth consecutive National Story of the Year honor in 2020-21 with "Together While Apart"?  (Congrats again to all our district and national award winners, too!)

With that challenge in mind, CoSIDA members are encouraged to submit entries for this year's Fred Stabley Sr. Writing Contest. You may begin submitting on Monday, December 6, 2021, through midnight (PST) on January 31, 2022.

Entries from current dues-paying CoSIDA members can be submitted in any of the following eight categories. You're encouraged to submit stories in as many of the categories as you'd like, but you can only submit one per category.

  1. Athlete Profile (current)
  2. Coach/Administrator Profile (current)
  3. Event Coverage (current)
  4. General Feature/Blog
  5. Historical Feature
  6. Season Recap/Preview
  7. Social Justice (along with Diversity, Equity and Inclusion)
  8. NEW CATEGORY! For student member submissions only – submit writings on any of the topics listed 1-7
