#CoSIDA21 Main Virtual Convention Dates Set For June 7-10
Organization Designates May as CoSIDA Awards & Honors Month; NACDA-CoSIDA Partnership Extended
The main #CoSIDA21 virtual programming will take place Monday-Thursday, June 7-10, free of charge. CoSIDA will showcase its award winners from 2020 and 2021 in video tributes throughout the month of May, with Hall of Fame honors taking place in June. Additionally, CoSIDA extends its partnership with NACDA through 2029 with the changes in convention planning and in-person hosting.
CoSIDA has announced the primary dates for its 2021 virtual convention with the main programming taking place Monday through Thursday, June 7-10. This virtual convention will take place at no charge for CoSIDA members, interested colleagues in collegiate athletics and external stakeholders.
The online platforms and programming schedules will be announced throughout the next several months.
Due to the pandemic, the in-person 2021 NACDA and Affiliates and CoSIDA Conventions, scheduled for June 13-16 at the World Center Marriott Resort in Orlando, were canceled in December. It was the second consecutive year the in-person events were canceled. With these changes in hotel agreements, CoSIDA and NACDA have announced a partnership extension of three years, lengthening the agreement through 2029 between the two organizations.
The annual CoSIDA Convention regularly includes general convention sessions, the SIDEARM Sports Leadership Forum presented by IMG College, Divisional Day programming targeted for specific members, awards presentations, business meetings,5k fun run/walk and community service project, and a CoSIDA U Camp for students interested in the profession.
During the four-day June 7-10 virtual event, general programming, CoSIDA business sessions, awards presentations for CoSIDA Hall of Fame and Academic All-America® Hall of Fame, and a CoSIDA 5K Fun Run/2-Mile Walk will be offered. Divisional Day programming, the Leadership Forum and CoSIDA U events will take place outside those dates.
There also will be a special “CoSIDA Awards & Honors Month” during May to honor all award recipients except the CoSIDA and Academic All-America® Hall of Famers. Last year, CoSIDA paused its annual convention awards program, hoping to honor the distinguished 2020 and 2021 CoSIDA Special Awards winners and Academic All-America® Hall of Fame inductees in person this June. While that is now not possible, award recipients will be recognized with pre-taped video interviews and highlights in May and June.
"We look forward to conducting our 2021 CoSIDA Convention virtually this June. Our Professional Development and Education Committee and CoSIDA staff continue to work diligently, together, to prepare top-notch programming that our membership can enjoy safely from their homes and workplaces," said 2020-21 CoSIDA President Sam Atkinson, Gallaudet University Associate Athletics Director for Communications.
“With our June virtual event, we are anticipating another tremendous week of multifaceted professional development and continuing education programming,” stated Doug Vance, CoSIDA Executive Director. “Our 2020 virtual convention was a resounding success and we look forward to our members and colleagues across college athletics joining in as we enhance our virtual event. We are extremely pleased to designate May as ‘CoSIDA Awards Month’ to recognize our outstanding award winners with video tributes throughout the month.”

Due to the hotel agreements in Las Vegas and Orlando that were re-negotiated due to the pandemic and cancellation of their respective 2020 and 2021 in-person conventions, the CoSIDA Executive Board of Directors and NACDA have agreed to a three-year partnership extension through 2029. The associations’ annual conventions will be held in odd years in Orlando (2023, ’25, ’27 and ’29 at the Marriott World Center Resort) and in even years in Las Vegas (2022, ’24 and ‘28 at the Mandalay Bay Resort and 2026 at the MGM Resort). The most recent NACDA-CoSIDA contract was signed in the summer of 2020 and had extended the agreement through 2026.
"The association with NACDA and its 16 affiliate organizations and our involvement in NACDA Convention Week has proven to be a worthwhile opportunity for our members,” noted Vance. “The extension helps set the course for our future as an organization."
"We are pleased to continue our partnership with NACDA through 2029,” Atkinson said. “Since CoSIDA has been partners with NACDA, the organization and profession have improved their footing and reach within collegiate athletics. That has truly been a positive impact for our members and profession."
The CoSIDA 5K Fun Run/2-Mile Walk will return in a virtual format during convention week. This year, proceeds will be donated directly to Frontline Outreach of Orlando in support of a project-based learning program to teach sports media to local youth. Donations are being accepted at
