During the pandemic, creative storytelling has been on full display from all types of communicators and creative professionals in college athletics. In this issue, we make the case that there are many important roles in communications and, for CoSIDA to be as strong as it can be as an organization, we must open our doors wider to be more inclusive of communicators and creative professionals in college athletics.
Three stories make up our cover package. CoSIDA Director of Creative Services Beau White leads off by saying ALL creatives and communicators deserve a seat at our table and touches on some of the reasons he believes that has not happened in the years since digital communicators became more prevalent. Imry Halevi, Harvard Assistant AD for Multimedia & Production, writes about the evolution of storytelling and the cultural shift that needs to take place to be most effective going forward. Ali Paquette, Assistant Director of Athletic Communications at Middlebury College, shares strategies for elevating creative services at small schools — the takeaway being that the one-person shop is not an effective strategy for staffing creative communications.
For the Perspectives From Outside the Profession column, Gail Dent of the NCAA national office shares her take on "Professional Development in a Changing World" with emphasis on why it's important for CoSIDA members of all races and genders to educate themselves on topics of diversity, equity and inclusion to make themselves more valuable to their institutions.
Also in this issue you'll also find a preview of the upcoming #CoSIDA21 Virtual Convention, a salute to our 2021 and 2020 Special Awards recipients, a tribute to our over 500 volunteers, a column weighing ethical dilemmas and much more!
Note: Like everyone, CoSIDA has taken a hit to its budget over the past year. As a result, the Executive Board of Directors made a series of decisions in its December 2020 meeting regarding spending in 2021. Among those decisions was the direction to halt printing of the magazine. It’s our hope that we’ll go back to printed issues when it makes sense but, for now, please enjoy our magazine online.

About CoSIDA 360
The print and digital magazine was one of the new CoSIDA membership initiative undertaken during the 2015-16 academic year which included the January 26, 2016 launch of our
CoSIDA mentorship program; new
text messaging service; and
CoSIDA After Hours social program, in addition to the CoSIDA Connect community. For budget reasons, the magazine will be in a digital only format for 2021.
CoSIDA 360's aim is to celebrate telling our members' stories, to educate our members, and to advocate for the profession and its professionals. The print magazine is mailed to every current CoSIDA member and also distributed to athletic directors, conference commissioners and external CoSIDA stakeholders. A new issue of the glossy stock magazine is released each February, May, August and November.
