Businesses have faced problem after problem since March of 2020 and the people they relied on the most to help navigate unchartered waters have been professional communicators. As such, the value of PR and communications has grown in the eyes of business.

As CoSIDA members look at these key research findings about the top challenges facing ALL communications professionals, they’ll see shared challenges across all communications jobs, challenges that are not unique to only those in college sports. They are: too many priorities, cutting through the noise, leaders not understanding communications roles, ever-expanding duties, not enough staffing or budgetary funds, and scope creep. This is impactful information for all SIDs. As Stacey Miller, a senior director of communications in the Auto Care Association and one pro who analyzed the findings noted, “part of the problem stems from leadership not fully understanding the workflow of comms and the time and effort behind campaigns.”
