This 10-part series begins in October 2021 and is open to current CoSIDA dues-paying members with a cap of 75 participants. Leadership CoSIDA replaces the CoSIDA Leadership Forum held at the annual CoSIDA summer convention.

CoSIDA introduces a special Leadership CoSIDA professional development track, beginning in October 2021. Presented by SIDEARM Sports, this virtual series features 10 sessions of webinars, podcasts and videos, designed for elite leadership training for college athletic communicators. It is offered to current dues-paying CoSIDA members to assist them in leadership development while helping participants develop and enhance critical proficiencies and expand their professional networks.
This year-round virtual programming replaces the annual CoSIDA Leadership Forum, which took place during the annual convention each summer.
This exclusive opportunity:
- Is limited to the first 75 CoSIDA current dues-paying members who register.
- Early registration is encouraged. The cost for this 10-session educational track will be $125 per person. All content will be offered virtually in CoSIDA’s online membership hub. There is no pro-rated fee if you join after October 5.
- The programming will culminate with an in-person gathering and Leadership CoSIDA recognition event at the 2022 CoSIDA Convention (June 26-29) in Las Vegas.
- Guest speakers will include leading college athletic administrators, communications leaders from professional sports and national communications and digital strategists and speakers.
- The series' primary webinar and podcast host will be Trip Durham, principal at 2D Consulting, LLC and a frequent collaborator with CoSIDA.
- The first Leadership CoSIDA class will conclude at the 2022 CoSIDA Convention with final programming and a recognition event.
Leadership CoSIDA begins Tuesday, Oct. 5 with a webinar featuring leading athletic directors entitled “The Big Reset: Hitting the Hot-Button Communications Topics of Today.”

Over the course of the academic year, those who enroll in Leadership CoSIDA will have the opportunity to listen and interact with national leaders and experts in communications and leadership. Sessions also will include college athletic directors, commissioners and senior-level administrators.

Opening up the 2021 Leadership CoSIDA series will be a live webinar with two award-winning veteran athletic administrators (Bubba Cunningham of the University of North Carolina and the University of Charleston’s Dr. Bren Stevens), along with newly appointed Montana State University Billings AD Michael Bazemore.
The trio will discuss navigating the new realities in college athletics, focusing on issues and trends for athletic communications leaders. Among the topic to be discussed: how they define the “value” of athletic communicators and creatives; the skills that define the best in college athletic communications leaders; importance of developing strategies for building alliances on campuses and in conferences; building trust with your senior administrators; current ramifications of Name, Image and Likeness legislation in communications and digital departments; being innovative in content creation and the role of the communications staff in building experiences for today’s college sports fans, recruits and external stakeholders; problem-solving and decision-making as it pertains to tighter budgets and reduced staff due to COVID-19; and more.
