What is your favorite thing about your career? Plus, people who inspire us, most prized possessions, hobbies we’d love to take up, advice for crossover season, a game of “this or that” and more.

“The SID Life” is a series surveying CoSIDA members for their thoughts on topics and issues in the athletic communications industry, plus personal insights into not-so-serious issues, too.

My most prized possession …

Farnsworth: My time; I wish I had more of it to spend with my family and friends.

Rosales: My Premier League jersey collection featuring Manchester City, Tottenham, Arsenal, Chelsea, and Liverpool.

Traversie: Family photos and good family stories.

Webb: My seemingly ever-growing beer cellar.

Zamora: My grandpa’s truck; it was given to me when he passed away last November.

What is your favorite thing about your career?

Farnsworth: The people I work with. I know it’s cliché, but the friendships I’ve built with my colleagues at Fisher is something I cherish.

Rosales: Helping to make the most of the overall student-athlete experience.

Traversie: The relationships built over the years with student-athletes, coaches, staff and media. It's amazing how we're all connected through sports.

Webb: Connecting with our young student-athletes and learning and sharing their stories. I enjoy finding them.

Zamora: Love working with and getting to know the student-athletes and seeing all of the amazing things they accomplish – both on and off the field/court.

Here it comes: fall to winter sports crossover season; your best advice to fellow SIDs…

Farnsworth: Don’t put off until tomorrow what you can get done today. Prepare early and then when the rush comes, you’re in a good position to handle it without as much stress.

Rosales: Plan ahead to ensure all rosters and communication links are good to go for the upcoming season.

Traversie: Work in advance! Try to get things off your list because something will always pop up that needs your immediate attention.

Webb: Make your graphic templates early, spend a little more time with family the crossover hits and understand things will probably go wrong somewhere (and be ok with that).

Zamora: Organize and plan ahead as much as you can. I keep a color-coded calendar of my sports so I can anticipate any crossover coverage issues well in advance.

What’s one hobby you’d love to get into, or one you do that you could be more involved in?

Farnsworth: I’d love to be able to be that guy who busts out his guitar and amazes everyone…sadly, I’m not.

Rosales: Would love to get into professional sports photography/videography.

Traversie: I'd love to travel and do some hiking with my husband in our national parks.

Webb: I would love to cook and have dinner parties more. Post-Covid, hopefully there is more of those type of things around the corner.

Zamora: Working out. I love to get into the weight room during my lunch hour and get a good workout in, but lately I haven’t been as on top of my routine as I’d like.

Who inspires you?

Farnsworth: My wife, Nicole. She’s the strongest person I know and is always there to carry the load when I’m working.

Rosales: My mom inspires me to be a better person every day. Despite a background full of obstacles she has an optimistic and brave approach to everything.

Traversie: My parents. Although they are no longer with us, they were two of hardest-working people I will ever know.

Webb: I take a lot of inspiration from my colleagues at other two-year schools as we have similar resource/staffing concerns. I love seeing “work arounds” and fresh ideas. There’s a lot of comraderie.

Zamora: The Long Beach State men’s volleyball coaching staff. Their positive energy and “expect greatness” attitude is inspiring.

Last thing I Googled …

Farnsworth: Spirit Halloween Coupons…found one for 20% off.

Rosales: "Premier League Highlights"

Traversie: Photoshop tutorial!

Webb: Something in InDesign. I’m still learning the Adobe world and Google/YouTube are my best friends for that.

Zamora: Cat memes…I’m a crazy cat lady!

This or that: Tackling work early in the morning or late at night?

Farnsworth: Early bird catches the worm.

Rosales: Tackling work late at night.

Traversie: We're in media relations, isn't it both? :)

Webb: Tackling work late at night. I used to work in TV so those are the hours I’m used to.

Zamora: Tackling work late at night.

This or that: Go without TV or without junk food for the rest of your life?

Farnsworth: Without TV (can’t live without cookies)

Rosales: Without TV

Traversie: Junk food

Webb: Junk food - being from Cajun Country, regular food is plenty satisfying!

Zamora: Without TV

This or that: Spend the day at an amusement park or relaxing on the beach?

Farnsworth: Do I have to choose?

Rosales: Relaxing on beach

Traversie: Relaxing on beach

Webb: Relaxing on beach -– I have two young girls and a “wall of sound” most nights!

Zamora: Relaxing on beach
