As of early January 2022, CoSIDA eclipsed the 3,000 mark in membership - the eighth time in the last nine years the organization has passed that standard.

Strategic communicators and creators in college athletics have delivered a strong statement that membership in a professional organization is important to their career growth and success and in building a network of peers.

The ascent to 3,000 members began in 2013-14 and hit a high of 3,255 members in 2019-20. Understandably and not unexpectedly, budgeting at member institutions during the global pandemic resulted in a drop-off last year to 2,582 members.

The rebound to 3,000 members this year underscores how athletics directors, conference commissioners and those in senior leadership value the contributions of CoSIDA to their staffs.

In CoSIDA’s 2020 compensation and career satisfaction survey, 98% of members who responded said their institution paid for their CoSIDA membership.

In CoSIDA’s 2021 strategic branding initiative survey:

  • 84% of athletics directors and conference commissioners said they were extremely likely or very likely to provide CoSIDA membership for their staff next year
  • 85% of all respondents said CoSIDA is a relevant organization in 2021.

(Survey results will be shared with the membership at a later date.)

In November 2021, CoSIDA’s Executive Board of Directors made a move toward welcoming broader membership beginning in 2022-23 by approving an all-in membership model. Institutions will be able to include an unlimited number of members in their CoSIDA memberships for one institutional rate.

This new institutional membership model is built for those who prefer simplicity and savings, while providing professional development opportunities for the most number of people in all types of roles who work toward promoting the institution's brand.
