Jenna Jorgensen, Coordinator of Strategic Communications and Brand Enhancement at the Western Collegiate Hockey Association, shares this video and infographic on social media management and strategy best practices. It is intended to be a standardized list of best practices and expectations for all athletic communications and creatives pros who run multiple social accounts or if you have multiple people sharing responsibilities for managing multiple accounts.
Jorgensen relocated to the WCHA, based in Bloomington, Minnesota, after spending three years in upper New York State as an Assistant Director of Athletic Communications at Colgate University. While at Colgate, she and her colleagues developed a one-page of do's and don'ts in planning, streamlining and managing social media accounts.
This one-pager, updated recently with more strategies, caught the attention of numerous SIDs at other schools and was shared informally. With its updates, Jorgensen is now sharing it for CoSIDA members and our colleagues.
As Jorgensen notes in her video, you can tailor these guidelines as needed, as your social coverage may vary account to account. As you set social media expectations and strategies, she advises you break things down by platform and coverage.

Educational Lounge sessions are back for 2021-22!
CoSIDA continues its popular Educational Lounge sessions for the new academic year. The on-demand Educational Lounge videos are a quick-hitting "learning lab" on a particular topic, tactic/tool or issue pertinent to athletic communications and creatives professionals. When held at our in-person CoSIDA conventions, these Educational Lounges have been a first-come, first-served signup and limited to less than 35 people per training session so that each participant can ask questions and get one-on-one advice. As we schedule our June #CoSIDA22 Convention in Las Vegas, please check back during the winter/spring semester for more information on the way Educational Lounges will be handled.
