To ensure as many members as possible can participate, the CoSIDA Executive Board of Directors is adjusting the process for the Aug. 31 vote on the recommended organizational name change to
College Sports Communicators.
See details about the name change recommendation here.

All members will have the opportunity to vote via an electronic form that will be distributed via direct email on Aug. 31. The voting form will be available from 9:00 AM - 11:59 PM (Eastern) on Aug. 31 only.
As a result, the previously announced live Zoom member voting session on Aug. 31, previously scheduled for 2:00 PM (Eastern), will no longer take place.
“We have sought to be open, inclusive and transparent with everyone in our membership, and it’s important that no one is excluded from this vote,” CoSIDA President
Jessica Poole (Chicago State) said. “We originally had looked to follow a similar voting procedure to the one we used to approve the new governance model in 2020 by holding a live Zoom vote. For a number of factors, this situation is different than that one and that’s why the Executive Board unanimously decided to pivot to this new online vote direction. We believe this will give more members a chance to have their voice counted in this historic moment for our organization.”
Poole added, “This vote is a culmination of the work done by many CoSIDA leaders beginning in the summer of 2019 to set a vision for the future success of our organization through modernized governance, inclusive membership structures and, with this new name, a needed new brand perception — a brand that all college sports communicators can feel part of and be excited about.”

Prior to the voting, member questions are encouraged and welcomed. A
live member open forum Q&A with CoSIDA leadership will take place on Wednesday, Aug. 24 at 2:00 PM (Eastern) via Zoom. A recording of that session will be available for those unable to attend. Any member is also encouraged to
contact an Executive Board of Director member or national staff member.
“One of the things CoSIDA has always done well is connect with and listen to its members,” Executive Director
Erik Christianson said. “That’s exactly what’s happening here. We have a very effective governance model where issues can be brought forward from our divisional cabinets to our Executive Board. It’s important to everyone that all of our members have the chance to vote on the board’s recommendation.”
Per the CoSIDA constitution, 10% of the full membership must participate in the vote. Of those who cast their vote, a minimum of 60% need to vote in favor of the recommendation for it to pass. Voting is a right reserved only to current CoSIDA members. Because the vote comes during a transition to a new academic year, dues-paying 2021-22 members will be included in addition to all current 2022-23 members.
