Strategies and How To's For Student Staff Development
Empowering Student Employees with Meaningful Workplace Experience
Access the on-demand webinar at

The four member presenters shared insights on how to bolster recruit, train, educate, manage and empower your student assistants to raise content production and give students a valuable experience.
Noting that it is a challenging time of shortened staffs and resources, they presented ideas on: how to be creative in looking for student help and where to draw from; how to make the student position more attractive and valuable by educating students on the 'why's' of their roles; playing to their strengths while also training and educating them to expand their skill sets; the importance of constantly teaching and educating them and doing check-ins following completion of their assignments; and strategies and incentives to use if you have a low student help budget, or no budget.
As students split their time between school, work, friends and sports, they want to see or understand the ways they make a difference. Encouraging the webinar attendees to engage and mentor their student employees, the presenters outlined how providing vital and real-life work experiences can be beneficial to your department — and to the students on their career paths.
