Dieterlen has been hired as assistant director of communications and creative content for CSC after serving as director of creative content at the Horizon League
Alivia Dieterlen (DEE-ter-len) has been hired as assistant director of communications and creative content for College Sports Communicators. She begins her new role Monday, Jan. 8.
Dieterlen, a current CSC member, emerged as the top candidate for this new position following a nationwide search that attracted 150 diverse applicants, according to CSC Executive Director
Erik Christianson. She most recently served as director of creative content at the Horizon League, a Division I conference based in Indianapolis.
“Alivia rose to the top of a very competitive applicant pool because of her creative talent, her demonstrated success using analytics to improve outcomes, and her communication skills throughout the process,” Christianson said. “As our membership continues to evolve, we are evolving as well with this hire, and we look forward to Alivia’s contributions promoting our members, our profession and all of college sports.”
In her role with CSC, Dieterlen will be part of the communications team responsible for collaborating on strategic planning, development and execution of a comprehensive cross-platform content strategy for CSC’s year-round programming, the CSC Unite annual convention, and the Academic All-America® program.
At the Horizon League, Dieterlen led and produced the conference office’s creative content, including videos, graphics, and event signage, while helping to enhance the league’s brand awareness and assisting with marketing and social media planning and execution. Dieterlen also served on the league-wide NIL strategy group.
During her time at the Horizon League office, the conference launched a
brand recharge where she implemented new designs and themes through content, created social media strategy, and provided in-depth analysis of data and analytics to measure success.
Based in Mooresville, Indiana, Dieterlen has past corporate and non-profit communications experience, assists as a gameday camera operator for the Indianapolis Colts and is a freelance photographer.
Dieterlen earned a bachelor’s degree in media from Indiana University in 2020 where she also served as associate producer - digital for WTIU PBS/IU Radio and Television Services. During her four years as a student at IU, she worked as a camera operator and directed Big Ten Student-U broadcasts for all sports. For WTIU, Dieterlen worked on social media marketing for PBS/NPR shows and also produced and acted on its children’s show.
