Philadelphia, PA — The Maxwell Football Club (MFC) and College Sports Communicators are proud to announce a groundbreaking three-year partnership to highlight a shared commitment to recognizing excellence on and off the field. As part of this collaboration, CSC's prestigious Academic All-Americans of the Year for football will be prominently featured at the annual Maxwell Awards Gala.
The partnership reflects both organizations' dedication to honoring student-athletes who exemplify exceptional academic and athletic achievement. Beginning with the upcoming Maxwell Awards Gala in March 2025, the nation's top Academic All-Americans will be celebrated on one of football's grandest stages, alongside some of the most distinguished players, coaches, and contributors in the sport.
CSC recognizes football Academic All-Americans in NCAA Division I, Division II, and Division III and the NAIA each February.
"Recognizing student-athletes who excel both on the field and in the classroom aligns perfectly with the Maxwell Football Club's mission to celebrate excellence at every level of the game," said Mark Wolpert, Executive Director of the Maxwell Football Club. "By featuring CSC's Academic All-Americans at our annual gala, we are highlighting the importance of character, leadership, and academic achievement in shaping the future of football. This partnership amplifies our shared belief that success extends far beyond the playing field."
For nearly 90 years, the Maxwell Football Club has been at the forefront of recognizing excellence in football at the professional, collegiate, and high school levels. The addition of CSC's Academic All-Americans of the Year to the Maxwell Awards Gala further elevates the event's stature as a celebration of excellence across all facets of the game.
The Maxwell Awards Gala, held annually held at the College Football Hall of Fame in Atlanta, Georgia brings together football's most celebrated figures, including recipients of the Maxwell Award, the Bednarik Award, and other notable honors. The 2025 Maxwell Awards Gala will be held on March 14, 2025. The inclusion of Academic All-Americans as part of the event's program will shine a spotlight on student-athletes who have distinguished themselves as leaders in both academics and athletics.
"We are excited to partner with the Maxwell Football Club to celebrate CSC's football Academic All-Americans of the Year at the annual gala alongside other noted award winners," said CSC Interim Executive Director Will Roleson. "The Academic All-America® program has been a hallmark of CSC for more than 70 years and this is a great opportunity to salute our top football honorees on a national stage."
Established by CSC in 1952, the Academic All-America® program has honored more than 42,000 deserving student-athletes who perform at an elite level in their chosen sport and in the classroom. Teams are announced year-round and amplified by CSC member colleges, universities, and conferences on a wide local, regional, national, and even international scope.
Nominating and voting for Academic All-America® is an exclusive right of College Sports Communicators members. Starting with the 1987-88 seasons, CSC began selecting an Academic All-American of the Year in each sport. The all-time list of Academic All-Americans includes major sports stars and some of the world's most accomplished individuals in medicine, business, science and the arts.
The Maxwell Football Club works closely with athletics communicators, who comprise CSC's membership. This alignment further strengthens the relationship between the two organizations, ensuring broader recognition for the academic and athletic achievements of student-athletes.
The three-year partnership between CSC and The Maxwell Football Club marks a significant step forward in recognizing the holistic development of student-athletes. By honoring the academic success of these student-athletes, MFC and CSC aim to inspire future generations to pursue excellence in every arena of their lives.
