College Sports Communicators at 2025 Maxwell Awards Gala

Earlier this month, CSC was front and center at the Maxwell Awards Gala in Atlanta, Georgia. As part of our new partnership with the Maxwell Football Club, our four 2024 CSC Football Academic All-Americans of the Year were honored as part of a black tie event at the College Football Hall of Fame. 

CSC First Vice President Mary Beth Challoner joined CSC staff members Will Roleson and Alivia Dieterlen to help pay tribute to Travis Hunter (Colorado), Brayden Long (Slippery Rock), Aaron Syverson (Saint John’s (Minn.)) and Jameson Chesser (Taylor). Click here to view a video recap of the event.

Cort Street and Marlee Ressa join CSC Staff as interns for 2025 spring semester

CSC is pleased to welcome Cort Street and Marlee Ressa as interns for the remainder of the spring 2025 semester and through the #CSCUnite25 convention in June. Both student interns are currently pursuing their Master of Arts in sports journalism at Indiana University Indianapolis and bring valuable sports journalism experience.

As CSC interns, Street and Ressa will assist with storytelling projects, 2025 convention projects and other membership programs, while gaining experience and networking with athletics communications professionals and external stakeholders. Their roles will continue through the CSC Convention in Orlando (June 8-11). Click here to learn more about Cort and Marlee.


2024-25 Creative & Digital Design Contest

CSC announces new offerings and updated rules for 2024-25 Creative & Digital Design Contest. Some of the enhancements and highlights this year include: transition of contest into new awards portal (same portal as Academic All-America), new contest for Video Portfolio of the Year, entry limits for general contests, expansion of non-gameday graphics into three categories, and continued emphasis on recognizing the best work in every division.

Portfolio contest winners will be announced live on stage at #CSCUnite25. Application deadlines: “Portfolio” contests - April 7 at Midnight (ET); General contests - May 4 at Midnight (ET). Click here to learn more and submit your work.


2025-26 CSC Grants & Scholarships

Applications for 2025-26 CSC Grants & Scholarships are open through Friday, April 4. Opportunities include Undergraduate Scholarships, a Postgraduate Scholarship, CSC Member/Child Scholarships and an Internship Grant. Apply at cscommunicators.com/scholarships

CSC Hall of Fame Staff Member Barb Kowal announces plans to retire effective August 1

After 16 years of service to College Sports Communicators, Director of Operations and Professional Development Barb Kowal has announced her plans to retire effective Aug. 1, 2025. Barb is the longest tenured full-time staff member in CSC history.
