Former CSC member Jason Pommier passes away

Former CSC member Jason Pommier passed away on Monday, June 9. He was 55.

Pommier worked in the collegiate SID profession for more than a dozen years. He was an assistant SID at Cal State Fullerton (1997-98), USC (2000-12) and Texas (2012-13). He spent the past nine years as the public information officer of the Porterville Unified School District in Central California.

Pommier served as PUSD's PIO from 2014 to 2024. A Cal State Fullerton graduate, Pommier worked in public relations for more than 35 years.

Pommier worked in college and pro sports for 25 years. He began his career when he was a freshman at Cal State Fullerton. He worked in the sports information office and was in charge of media relations for the women's gymnastics team. The team was ranked in the top six nationally and Pommier traveled with the team to the University of Georgia for the National Championships.

He went onto work with the Los Angeles Kings and worked for 12 years at USC. He then worked at the University of Texas before coming to Porterville.

As an assistant sports information director or sports information director Pommier worked with six national championship teams at each of the universities he worked with, Cal State Fullerton, USC and Texas.

“Jason will be remembered for his warm personality and sense of humor, his dedication to our students and staff, and his years of faithful service to our staff and students,” PUSD superintendent Dr. Nate Nelson said. “We extend our sincere condolences to Jason's family and friends during this difficult time. His contributions to PUSD over the past decade are appreciated, and he will be missed by our school community.”
