Presented to College Sports Communicators members who have completed 25 years in the athletics communications profession. Vetted and voted on by the Special Awards Committee.

Brent Harris — Wabash College Athletics and Recreation Communications Director

"Wabash has been home for more than 25 years, and it’s been a privilege to tell the stories of the students, alumni and traditions that make this place special. Wabash is truly a special and unique place. But the students, coaches, staff, and alums have made it the only place I've wanted to be since first coming here over 25 years ago." — Brent Harris, 2026 CSC 25-Year Award recipient

Brent Harris joined Wabash College in 1999 as the college’s sports information director after working in television, newspaper and radio in multiple media markets. Harris was named director of sports information and sports marketing in 2008 and assumed his current role as athletics and campus wellness communications director in 2019. In 2023, he received the Bob Williams Helping Hand Award from the Indiana Sportswriters and Sportscasters Association in recognition of his long-standing service to media outlets across the state.

Harris’ 2010 Wabash College Football Media Guide was judged best in the nation among college division programs by College Sports Communicators. His article “54 Steps,” published in Wabash Magazine, earned best in region honors and placed second nationally in CSC’s 2009 Fred Stabley Sr. Writing Contest. A member of CSC since 1999, Harris served as a regional representative to the Division III-SIDA Board of Directors from 2009-11 and continues to serve on the Academic All-America Committee. He also participated in testing and development for Genius Sports’ NCAA Live Stats football software.

Prior to Wabash, Harris worked seven years at the Journal Review in his hometown of Crawfordsville, Indiana, holding roles including circulation director, weekend sports reporter and IT director. He later spent two years at The Tribune in Seymour, Indiana, as production and circulation director.

Harris began his broadcasting career at WCVL-WIMC radio in Crawfordsville, rising from part-time disc jockey to sports director, play-by-play announcer, program director and chief operations officer. He also worked as a freelance technician for ESPN and Lingner Group Productions, contributing to motorsports broadcasts including Saturday Night Thunder, the Indianapolis 500 and ESPN’s Baja 500 and Baja 1000 coverage. He has spent 31 seasons working with the Indianapolis Colts as a game-day assistant, including 18 seasons as the primary computer entry technician. His experience includes service on the statistics crew for Super Bowl XLVI and ongoing work as an NFL Game Statistics Information System (GSIS) primary entry technician.

Harris attended Illinois State University, majoring in theater, and is a 1982 graduate of Crawfordsville High School. He was named an honorary alumnus of Wabash College, Class of 2003, in 2011. Harris resides in Crawfordsville, Indiana.

Keri Alexander Luchowski, North Coast Athletic Conference Executive Director: “Brent and I came to the NCAC at the same time, which has been such a boon to me personally and professionally. I’ve been fortunate to work with many outstanding communicators, and Brent Harris is one of the very best. For years, he has been a constant at Wabash — reliable, thoughtful, and deeply committed to doing the job the right way. Brent has a rare ability to tell stories with both precision and heart, while treating everyone he works with — student-athletes, coaches, colleagues, and media partners — with genuine respect. His influence goes well beyond the press box, as he has mentored so many colleagues and students during his time. His dedication to Division III values, to the NCAC and to Wabash College is exactly what this CSC milestone is meant to celebrate.”

Kyle Brumett, Wabash College Head Basketball Coach: “Brent Harris is an outstanding representative of Wabash College and everything that is right about college athletics. He is a true professional, he is an exceptional teacher and mentor for our students, and he is a great teammate for our coaches. I am extremely thankful that I have Brent's support and expertise during my time at Wabash. Congratulations, Brent.”

Greg Rakestraw, ISC Sports Network Vice President: “Brent is the definition of what a sports information director should be. Always personable, always happy to help, a wonderful representative of Wabash College and his profession. I work with Brent through both the Indianapolis Colts and Wabash, and my day is always better after having a conversation with him.”

William (Bill) Wagner, DePauw University Assistant Athletics Director for Athletics Communications, CSC Hall of Famer and past Special Awards recipient: “I've valued the relationship that Brent and I have had which predates his current position at Wabash. While our schools are fierce rivals, our relationship is one of mutual support and admiration. I always feel that Brent treats our media and me with the utmost professionalism. His work in developing student assistants is second-to-none and his commitment to Wabash's video streaming platform has produced a product that many of us would love to replicate on our campuses. I'm grateful for the personal and professional relationship we've shared and the memories we've made. Congratulations, Brent!”
