25-Year Award
Presented to College Sports Communicators members who have completed 25 years in the athletics communications profession. Vetted and voted on by the Special Awards Committee.

Chris Panter — Rowan University Athletic Communications Coordinator

"I am humbled to be a recipient of the CSC 25-Year Award, and to work with so many outstanding peers in this ever-changing business. They say if you love what you do for a living, you'll never work a day in your life. While this is somewhat true, I have enjoyed telling the stories and being around athletics for a quarter of a century, making these last 25 years fly by. I want to thank the AD's and staff of all the institutions I have worked at for giving me the opportunity to do what I love." — Chris Panter, 2026 CSC 25-Year Award recipient

Chris Panter was named athletic communications coordinator at Rowan University in September 2021. He came to Glassboro after spending 17 years at Gwynedd Mercy University as sports information director.

At Gwynedd, he was responsible for the maintenance of the athletics website with game recaps and feature stories along with updated statistical information, photos, rosters, schedules and more. He helped launch the Griffins' new website in the fall of 2010 via SIDEARM/ICS, one of the leaders in college athletic websites, to help streamline the constant updates of information and give it a new and exciting look. He also oversaw the photography of player and team photos along with action shots at selected home and away events.

Panter was also the social media director of the athletic department's Facebook, Instagram and Twitter (X) accounts as well as the point person for the livestreaming video of the home contests. Panter also has assisted in the media relations departments of local NCAA tournament regionals/contests, including the 2022 and 2016 Division I men’s basketball regional in Philadelphia, the 2016 Division II men’s basketball East Regional at Holy Family, and the 2008 Division III men’s basketball first and second rounds at Ursinus, among others.

Prior to Gwynedd Mercy, Panter spent three years as sports information director at Catholic University in Washington, D.C. (2001-04). While at CUA, he implemented webcasts for Cardinal football, serving as producer for all games among his sports information duties. During the 2000-01 season, he was a member of the Lehigh University athletic communications staff as an intern, getting hands-on experience at the Division I level. From 1998 to 2000, he was an assistant at Rutgers-Camden University. He has also spent time with the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC) and as a sports reporter for the Courier-Post (N.J.).

Panter is a 1998 graduate of Wesley College where he was a member of the football team.

Keith Mondillo, Gwynedd Mercy University Director of Athletics: “Chris has dedicated his professional life to telling the stories that matter in college athletics. For more than two decades, he has served student-athletes, coaches, and institutions with integrity, consistency, and pride. His work reflects a deep respect for the role sports play in education and personal growth. Chris understands that behind every statistic is a student, and behind every program is a mission. He has elevated every institution he has served through his professionalism, reliability, and genuine care for people. College athletics is better because of his commitment, and this recognition is both earned and deserved.”

Clint Often, University of Mary Washington Assistant Athletic Director for Communications, past CSC 25-Year Award recipient: “I've known Chris since way back when he started his sports information career at Catholic University, and it's been a pleasure to be a colleague and friend ever since. His professionalism and work ethic are matched only by his good nature and sense of humor, which is valued greatly by everyone he comes in contact with. Here's to 25 more, young man!”

Michael Ballard, Rutgers University-Camden Sports Information Director: “I've known Chris for about 25 years and respect him as one of the finest people and best Sports Information Directors I've ever known. Chris worked with me years ago and has since become one of the very best SIDs in our conference, providing excellent service and going out of his way to support his colleagues. He has helped our school with stat work on many occasions, is always prepared and professional, is knowledgeable and has an easy-going personality and great sense of humor. Chris fully deserves any honors that come his way. The profession is lucky to have Chris among its members.”

Jill Weigel, Neumann University Director of Athletic Communications: “I first met Chris when I started my first full-time SID job 18 years ago in the same conference. He has been a constant source of inspiration, information, comradery, and comic relief ever since. Even though we haven’t been in the same conference in years, we are still in the same region and I can still shoot him a text, e-mail or phone call to pick his brain or get a quick laugh in the middle of cross over seasons. Congrats on 25 years, Chris, and thank you for all you continue to do for me.”
