Who would have thought adding another event to an already loaded calendar would prove to be such a popular idea with sports information directors?
CoSIDA After Hours is an initiative to bring members together at social gatherings for the purpose of fostering camaraderie among SIDs, providing a networking and support system as well as establishing a conduit for communication between members in the region.
It’s easy to pull together. Find a date and location and work with Laurie Bollig on the CoSIDA staff to issue an invitation and handle RSVPs. The best news? CoSIDA helps fund the first round of appetizers or adult beverages. Local hosts need only submit receipts up to $250 to Will Roleson after the event.
The introduction of regional social events for athletics communications professionals began in 2015 in Indianapolis in conjunction with the officer/staff meetings and has taken off to include gatherings in Denver, Kansas City, San Diego, New York City, Washington DC, Nashville, Tampa, Dallas, Philadelphia, Pittsburgh, San Antonio and Pearl, Mississippi, to name a few.
Major and minor league baseball games, the racetrack, and the local bar and grill. All have served as locations for these great events.
“I consider CoSIDA a large, nationwide family of SIDs and having area social gatherings for members to connect and get better acquainted is a great opportunity to bring each regional SID group together in a fun fashion. We hope everyone takes full advantage of meeting and socializing with their professional neighbors,” CoSIDA Executive Director Doug Vance said.
