Jim Wright was inducted into the CoSIDA Hall of Fame during the 2008 convention in Tampa, Florida. Wright was a winner of CoSIDA's Arch Ward Award in 2003 and Lifetime Achievement Award in 2013.
Wright joined the NCAA national office staff in 1975 in the statistics department and stayed there until his retirement in the sumer of 2013. He was a household name within the NCAA membership. Before his retirement, he managed a staff that produced weekly national rankings and annual records books for 14 sports in all divisions, as well as five statisticians’ manuals. The staff provided a Rating Percentage Index (RPI) for 11 Division I championships. In addition, Wright oversaw a five-person media services team that handled publicity needs at NCAA championships.
He is a native of Connersville, Ind., and a Ball State graduate.
