Jaeckel, an outside hitter who has a 4.0 grade point average (G.P.A.) as a graduate student in sport management, was chosen as the winner of the Capital One Academic All-America® of the Year award for Division I Volleyball.

Honored as the co-winner of the 2011 Southeastern Conference Scholar Athlete of the Year award, Jaeckel led the Gators to a 27-6 record this season. She helped the 17th-ranked Gators finish second in the SEC and make their 21st consecutive appearance in the NCAA Tournament. In the NCAA Tournament, the Gators reached the regional finals where they lost to third-ranked Illinois.

A three-time All-SEC selection, she earned a spot on the first team for the second time this season. A member of the American Volleyball Coaches Association (AVCA) All-South Region Team, she topped the SEC with 49 service aces, a 0.42 average.

A native of Littleton, Col., Jaeckel led the Gators with 3.49 kills per set this season. She was also second on the team with 2.31 digs per set. Jaeckel, who also had a perfect 4.0 G.P.A. as an undergraduate at Florida, finished her career with 1,331 kills, the fifth-highest total in school history.
