YOUNG HARRIS, Ga. – Seniors Amanda Roden of Taylor University and Stephen Lunney of Martin Methodist College headline the 2014-15 Capital One Academic All-America® College Division soccer teams as selected by the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA).
 
A midfielder for the Trojans, Roden has been selected as the 2014-15 Capital One Academic All-America® of the Year for College Division Women’s Soccer while Lunney has been named as the Capital One Academic All-America® of the Year for College Division Men’s Soccer for the second year in a row.
 
The Capital One Academic All-America® College Division soccer teams are comprised of student-athletes from NAIA, Canadian and two-year institutions.
 
A two-time first team selection, Roden is a biology major with a perfect 4.0 G.P.A. The Cincinnati, Ohio, native led the Trojans to an 8-7-4 record and a berth in the semifinals of the Crossroads League Tournament. The Trojans’ leading scorer with 18 points, she scored eight goals with two assists while starting 17 of 19 contests as a senior.
 
Named as an NAIA Scholar-Athlete in 2013, she is a two-time All-Crossroads League performer who ranks among the national leaders this season with four game-winning goals. A four-year starter for the Trojans, she scored 20 goals with 14 assists in her career while starting 68 of 76 contests.
 
Named as the Capital One Academic All-America® of the Year for the second consecutive year, Lunney earned Capital One Academic All-America® notice for the third straight season after earning first team honors last year. A physical education major with a 3.97 G.P.A., the Dublin, Ireland, native was also selected as a second team pick as a sophomore in 2012.
 
A first team All-Southern States Athletic Conference performer, Lunney is a four-year starter for the Redhawks who has started 68 contests in his career. While leading Martin Methodist to an 8-6-3 record this year, he has posted a 0.95 goals-against average, which ranks 29th in NAIA. In addition, he has stopped 77.6 percent of the shots he has faced while recording six shutouts. The Redhawks advanced to the finals of the SSAC Tournament before losing by a 1-0 margin to Bethel University.
 
Capital One Academic All-America® Women’s Soccer College Division Team
  
The 11-member Capital One Academic All-America® College Division Women’s Soccer first team has an average grade point average of 3.97, which includes five student-athletes with a 4.0 G.P.A. All 11 members of the first team have a G.P.A. of 3.90 or higher.
 
In addition to Roden, there are three repeat selections on this year’s Academic All-America® first team. Senior defender Lydia Storms of Clarke University earned a spot on the first team for the second year in a row while
senior goalkeeper Morgan Lynn of Saint Ambrose University and junior defender Annie Kessler of Ottawa University received second team recognition last season.
 
An honorable mention selection to the Midwest Collegiate Conference, Storms started 17 of 18 matches for the Crusaders and scored nine goals with four assists. A biology major with a perfect 4.0 G.P.A., the Shoreview, Minnesota native was a four-year starter who tallied 19 goals with seven assists in her career while starting 73 of 74 contests.
 
A starter in 20 matches as a senior, Lynn helped the Bees post a 12-6-3 record and advance to the finals of the Midwest Collegiate Conference Tournament. Lynn, who is a native of Pekin, Illinois, has earned a 3.94 G.P.A while majoring in accounting and corporate finance. She posted a 1.06 goals-against average while stopping 73.5 percent of the shots she faced with six shutouts.
 
A native of Paola, Kansas with a 4.0 G.P.A. while majoring in biology and mathematics, Kessler has led the Braves to a 13-2-5 record and the Kansas Collegiate Athletic Conference championship. She is one of three Ottawa players to start all 20 matches this season and has scored a goal with an assist. 
 
Storms, Lynn and Kessler are joined on the first team by senior defenders Kathleen Dankbar of Saint Ambrose and Courtney Harrison of Spring Arbor University, senior midfielder Melissa Loretto of Trinity International University, junior midfielder Lindsey White of Reinhardt University, junior forwards Mallory Rondeau of Grace College and Andrea Skjold Froshaug of Embry-Riddle (Fla.) University, and senior forward Rachel Shmagranoff of Purdue University Calumet.
 
The second team includes junior goalkeeper Linfah Jones of William Carey University, senior defenders Rachel Mussell of Concordia (Neb.) University, Allie Preston of Oklahoma Baptist University, Kate Wiegman of Cornerstone University and Lauren Satcher of William Carey, senior midfielders Maggie Hair of Benedictine College, Kaitlin Phillips of Cumberland University and Autumn Surage of Ottawa, and senior forwards Ashley Parent of Madonna University, Nicole Pirie of Grand View University and Bethany Smith of Benedictine.
 
Capital One Academic All-America® Men’s Soccer College Division Team
 
The 11-member Capital One Academic All-America® College Division Men’s Soccer first team has an average grade point average of 3.89, which includes two student-athletes with a 4.0 G.P.A. There are also six members of the first team who have a G.P.A. of 3.90 or higher.
 
In addition to Lunney, senior midfielder Jack Keeling of the University of Jamestown and senior forward Jason Walcutt of University of Saint Francis (Ind.) are repeat selections to the Capital One Academic All-America® first team.
 
A physical education and teacher education major with a 3.88 G.P.A, Keeling is a native of Leamington Spa, England, who helped the Jimmies post a 14-3-2 record and advance to the semifinals of the North Star Athletic Association Tournament. He scored six goals with four assists while starting 18 matches as a senior. A three-time captain for Jamestown, he is a two-time first team All-NSAA selection and ranks 10th in the NSAA in points this year.
 
Walcutt, who is a native of Fort Wayne, Indiana, has a 3.72 G.P.A. while majoring in accounting. He started nine matches this season and scored nine goals with three assists before suffering a season-ending knee injury. Walcutt, who appeared in 66 career matches, will finish his career as the second-leading scorer in school history with 47 goals and 109 points. In addition, he was the 2013 Crossroads League Offensive Player of the Year after scoring 18 goals in 20 matches.
 
Joining Keeling and Walcutt on the Capital One Academic All-America® Men’s Soccer College Division first team are senior defenders Dylan Bronkema of Indiana Wesleyan University, Evan Myers of California State University San Marcos and Daniel Fredrickson of Corban University, junior defender Kellen Luey of Corban, junior midfielder Amanuel Weldemicael of Penn State Brandywine, senior midfielder Ryan Williams of Madonna, and junior forwards Jesse Massucco of Berea College and Paul Riesthuis of Grand View.
 
The second team includes a pair of repeat selections as junior defender Nate Huyser of Northwestern (Iowa) College and senior defender Giuseppe Frattaroli of Menlo College earned a spot on the second team for the second straight season. They are joined on the second team by senior goalkeeper Brendan Buchanan of Concordia (Neb.), junior defender Andrew Berg of Thomas (Ga,) University, senior defender Kyle Reopelle of Olivet Nazarene University, junior midfielder Dzenan Catic of Davenport University, senior midfielder Timothy Daniels of Taylor, sophomore midfielder Aleksi Pahlasalo of Lindsey Wilson College, and senior forwards Sebastian Bosch of Menlo, Akram El-Nady of Kansas Wesleyan University and Jake Ramsay of Hastings College.
