Senior Emily Jorgens, from Trinity University (Texas), repeats as the women’s Academic All-America of the Year while John Carroll University’s Brian Potocnik is named as men’s Academic All-America of the Year.

Jorgens, an accounting major with a 4.0 G.P.A. from Austin, Texas, is one of nine repeat Capital One Academic All-America® selections on the 2014 team.

Potocnik, an Aurora, Ohio native and maintains a 3.79 G.P.A. as a biochemistry major, is one of nine repeat selections to the men’s Capital

Jorgens has led Trinity to a No. 3 national ranking this season and an undefeated 22-0-1 record with 19 goals and 27 assists for 65 points. Her 27 assists currently leads the nation.

Last season, on her way to her first Capital One Academic All-America® of the Year accolade, Jorgens earned the Elite 89 Award for women’s soccer and was named first team All-America by both D3soccer.com and the NSCAA.

Potocnik earns his first Capital One 2014 Academic All-America® of the Year honor after earning a second team Capital One Academic All-America ® spot in 2013.

His 35 points last season was the second-best season in Blue Streaks history and this year he helped JCU to a 17-4 record with 20 goals and 13 points for 53 points. He is currently sixth in the nation in scoring.

The nine women’s repeat selections include two members of the 2013 first team, three from the second team and four from the third team.
