TOWSON, Md. – Senior pitcher
Megan Nonnemacher of Saint Xavier University leads the 2014 Capital One Academic All-America® College Division Softball Team, as selected by the College Sports Information Directors of America.
The Capital One Academic All-America® College Division softball team is comprised of student-athletes from NAIA, Canadian and two-year institutions.
An elementary education major with a 3.91 G.P.A., Nonnemacher has been named as the winner of the Academic All-America® of the Year award for the College Division softball team.
Nonnemacher, a native of Bloomington, Illinois, is a three-time selection to the Capital One Academic All-America® team who earned first team notice as a junior and senior. A first team All-Chicagoland Collegiate Athletic Conference selection for the third year in a row, she helped the Cougars post a 47-9-1 record while reaching the NAIA Opening Round Tournament championship game.
A starter in 30 games as a senior, Nonnemacher posted a 23-3 record while posting a 1.34 earned run average. She tallied 12 shutouts with 25 complete games. In addition, she recorded 164 strikeouts while walking just 47 batters.
Nonnemacher is one of two repeat first team selections on the 2014 Capital One Academic All-America® College Division Softball Team. Senior designated player
Caitlin O’Hagan of St. Gregory’s University also received first team recognition for the second year in a row.

Kirstie Zimmerman of Kansas Wesleyan University to complete the first team.
Nine players on the first team – Nonnemacher, Sagrera, Beckman, Sendzik, Winegeart, Bowden, O’Hagan and Zimmerman – helped their teams qualify for the NAIA Tournament while Beckman, Sendzik, Bowden and O’Hagan led their teams to the NAIA National Championship Tournament, which will take place in Columbus, Georgia, from May 23-29.
O’Hagan, a biomedical sciences major with a perfect 4.00 G.P.A., has led the Cavaliers to a 51-10 record this year. A starter in all 61 games so far this year, the Choctaw, Oklahoma, native is batting .310 with one home run and 48 RBI. She has also contributed 58 hits with 13 doubles.
O’Hagan earned All-Sooner Athletic Conference honors for the third consecutive year after being named to the second team as a senior. She was a first team pick in 2012 and received second-team recognition last year.
A biology and chemistry major with a 3.90 G.P.A.,
Beckman earned a spot on the All-Southern States Athletic Conference team while leading the Lady Crusaders to a 47-10 record. A starter in 54 games, the Meridian, Mississippi, native ranks fourth on the team with a .366 batting average while contributing a team-high six home runs with 40 runs batted in.
A multimedia major with a 3.87 G.P.A.,
Sendzik has led the Tigers to a 49-3-1 record and their ninth appearance at the NAIA National Tournament. A first team All-CCAC pick, Sendzik has played in 49 games this season and ranks third on the team with a .444 batting average.
A native of Mokena, Illinois, Sendzik ranks second on the team with 10 home runs while driving in 54 runs, which is tied for fourth on the team.
A health care administration major with a 3.76 G.P.A.,
Winegeart led the Jaguars to a 33-15 record as a senior and a berth in the NAIA Tournament. The Corpus Christi, Texas, native started all 48 games as a senior and posted a .416 batting average while hitting three home runs with 44 runs batted in. She also ranked second on the team by scoring 45 runs and contributed 64 base hits. While leading the Jaguars to three consecutive appearances in the NAIA Tournament, Winegeart is the school’s all-time leader in games played (207), at-bats (617) and base hits (205).
McConnell, who earned her MBA with a 3.80 G.P.A. this spring after earning her undergraduate degree in business and marketing with a 3.94 G.P.A., finished her career as the Stars’ all-time leader in hits (148), doubles (31), triples (13), runs batted in (44), total bases (208) and slugging percentage (.515). A four-year starter for the softball team, she started all 144 games of her college career. As a graduate student, the Edwardsville, Illinois, native was the Stars’ leading hitter with a .394 average while driving in a team-high 17 runs. She also had eight doubles and four triples.
A pre-health major with a 3.90 grade point average,
Sagrera made 51 appearances in the circle for the Badgers, including 49 starts. She posted a 1.01 ERA and allowed just 49 earned runs in 339 innings. She also recorded 435 strikeouts while allowing just 93 walks. In addition to being named to the SSAC All-Academic Team, the Baton Rouge, Louisiana, native was honored as the SSAC’s All-West Division Pitcher of the Year and earned a spot on the All-SSAC team. She was named as the most valuable player at the SSAC Championship Tournament.
A senior early childhood development major with a 3.90 G.P.A.,
Drabek helped the Crusaders to a 34-10 record and a second place finish in the Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference. A first team All-WHAC selection, she was the Crusaders’ fourth-leading hitter with a .327 average while starting 42 games. She also ranked fourth on the team with 27 runs batted in and contributed 37 hits. In addition, Drabek, who is a native of Newport, Michigan, posted an outstanding .997 fielding percentage with just one error in 297 chances.
A native of McKenzie, Tennessee,
Bowden is a criminal justice major with a 3.84 G.P.A. In addition to being named to the Capital One Academic All-America® first team, she has earned Academic All-Mid-South Conference and NAIA Scholar Athlete honors as a senior. While leading the Blue Raiders to a 48-9 record and a berth in the NAIA National Tournament, Bowden has started all 57 games and ranks second on the team with a .388 batting average. She is one of four players with at least 12 home runs this season and is tied for fifth on the team with 44 runs batted in.
A native of San Martin, California,
Larson is an accounting major with a 3.96 G.P.A. While leading the Oaks to a 13-17 record as a junior, she led the team with a .383 batting average with 36 base hits, including nine doubles and five triples. She also led the team with a .681 slugging percentage and 25 runs batted in. A three-time selection to the All-California Pacific Conference team, Larson posted a perfect 1.000 fielding percentage after not recording an error in 55 chances.
An athletic training major with a 3.94 G.P.A.,
Zimmerman is a native of San Jose, California, who led the No. 25-ranked Coyotes to an appearance in the NAIA Tournament for the first time in school history. The Coyotes’ leading hitter with a .429 average, Zimmerman played in 28 games this season while starting 19 times. She scored 12 runs while recording 21 base hits. A transfer from DeAnza College, Zimmerman earned President’s Honor Roll notice in all three semesters at Kansas Wesleyan.
