AUSTIN, Texas – Senior goalkeeper Megan Kufeld of the University of Washington and senior midfielder Patrick Hodan of the University of Notre Dame headline the 2015 Academic All-America® Division I soccer teams as selected by the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA).

Kufeld has been selected as the 2015 CoSIDA Academic All-America® of the Year for Division I Women’s Soccer, while Hodan has been named the 2015 CoSIDA Academic All-America® of the Year for Division I Men’s Soccer.

A biology major with an overall 3.97 G.P.A., Kufeld was a third team CoSIDA Academic All-America® selection last year. The Fremont, California native is the Huskies’ all-time leader in career shutouts passing Hope Solo for the top spot with 21.  She was on the Pac-12 All-Academic First Team and led her team to the NCAA Tournament. She finished the season with a 1.01 goals against average, five shutouts and 77 saves.

Kufeld’s name is littered throughout the Washington record book. In addition to holding the career record for most shutouts, she also has the career record for lowest goals against average.  She is second all-time in career saves. Kufeld is a three-time Pac-12 All-Academic first team member and grabbed Pac-12 honorable mention honors following her sophomore season when she had eight shutouts and a 0.81 goals against average.

As a junior, Kufeld led the Huskies to the Sweet 16 of the NCAA Tournament.  She recorded shutouts in the first two rounds of the tournament before allowing one goal, on a penalty kick, against Stanford in a 1-0 loss.  She recorded nine shutouts during the season, which is the second most ever by a UW goalkeeper in a single season.

Hodan, a finance major with a 3.90 G.P.A., is a two-time first team CoSIDA Academic All-America® selection, earning the award in 2014 and was also a third team in 2013. The Brookfield, Wisconsin native has three goals and a career high six assists this year and earned All-Atlantic Coast Conference (ACC) Second Team honors.  He has led the Irish to an 11-4-5 record and No. 7 national ranking heading into the NCAA Tournament.

Hodan is the first three-time Academic All-America® selection in Notre Dame men’s soccer history. He was a National Soccer Coaches Association of America (NSCAA) first team All-American, the ACC Offensive Player of the Year and a semifinalist for the Missouri Athletic Club (MAC) Hermann Trophy in 2014 when he had nine goals and three assists for a team that went to the Sweet 16.

As a sophomore Hodan was an All-ACC second team and NSCAA All-South Atlantic Region third team midfielder for Notre Dame. He scored 11 goals and had five assists while leading the team to the NCAA Championship, the first in school history. Hodan was named to the ACC Championship All-Tournament Team and the NCAA Championship All-Tournament Team.  He has played 85 games in his career scoring 29 goals, 19 assists and 77 points.
