As we continue to build and enhance relationships with other college athletic leaders and advocate for the athletic communication professionals, CoSIDA has renewed its partnership with NACDA through 2026. Our athletics membership associations have partnered since 2009, holding joint conventions since 2013.
College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA) has announced an extension of its partnership with the National Association of Collegiate Directors of Athletics (NACDA) through 2026.
The partnership between the two organizations began in 2009, with CoSIDA first joining NACDA and its affiliate associations at their annual convention in 2013. The contract was renewed in 2014 through 2022, with the new extension replacing the final two years and adding four more.
“This agreement continues to strengthen our partnership with NACDA as CoSIDA continues to advocate and champion the Athletic Communications profession,” said Sam Atkinson, 2020-21 CoSIDA President and Associate Athletic Director for Communications at Gallaudet University. “The partners and allies we have created since we have been with NACDA have raised the profile of our organization, our members and our work. We look forward to the years ahead working alongside NACDA and its affiliates."
Through the duration of the contract, the associations’ annual conventions will be held in odd years in Orlando (2021, ‘23 and ‘25 at Marriott World Center) and in even years in Las Vegas (2022 and ‘24 at Mandalay Bay Resort and 2026 at MGM Resort).
Beginning in 2022, CoSIDA and each of NACDA’s affiliates will meet over the same four days for convention activities, increasing the opportunities for shared educational programming and networking.
“We are pleased to extend our relationship with NACDA through 2026,” added CoSIDA Executive Director Doug Vance. “Our partnership over the past 11 years with NACDA and its 16 affiliate organizations has been instrumental in supporting our mission of service to our members and the profession. This was a meaningful step forward for CoSIDA when the agreement was originally crafted in 2009 and we are excited to continue this relationship.”
The extension of this partnership allows continuous interaction for CoSIDA, NACDA and its affiliate associations members at a common convention site to discuss issues and share ideas. This partnership encourages the lines of communication and allows the associations to compose joint task forces; cross-over panelists, topics and sessions; and unparalleled networking opportunities for both sides. CoSIDA Convention attendees and NACDA affiliates attendees are encouraged to attend each’s education sessions throughout the annual convention.
In addition to the shared convention experience, CoSIDA will continue to contribute a column in each issue of
Athletics Administration, NACDA's quarterly magazine; receive invitations to the NACDA Mid-Winter Meetings; and have visibility on NACDA's website and content links in the NACDA Daily Review, among other opportunities.
“We are proud to continue our relationship with CoSIDA,” said Bob Vecchione, NACDA’s chief executive officer. “The athletics communicators, sports information directors and their staffs serve in very important roles, especially as we move into a post-COVID environment where communications channels will be even more critical. NACDA & Affiliates look forward to continued collaboration with CoSIDA for years to come.”
