Morgan Sheehan – UNC Pembroke, Associate Athletic Communications Director

Morgan Sheehan has started her career at her alma mater, NCAA Division II UNC Pembroke, where she competed as a dual-sport athlete for the Black & Gold’s tennis and track and field programs. She handles eight sports for the Braves in her role as associate athletic communications director.

An honors student and recipient of a Chancellor’s Award while competing in track, Morgan also was nominated for NCAA Woman of the Year honors following her final year of athletic eligibility in 2018. A leader on campus, she also served two terms as the Student-Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC) president.

In her Recognition Week video, Morgan talks to Gibson about being a UNCP student-athletes, her mentors and her start in sports information, storytelling and building relationships with student-athletes.

Sheehan with her parents, Ellen and Jim Sheehan. They were her high school tennis coaches, with her Dad starting the program. In 2019, the tennis courts at Swansboro High School were dedicated to him.

Sheehan notes that “Tennis is a huge part of my life and I lived out my dream to play college tennis at UNC Pembroke. My first toy was a cloth tennis racquet.”
