CoSIDA Executive Board Approves New All-In Memberships for 2022-23
In an effort to provide greater advocacy and support for all communications and creative professionals, the CoSIDA Executive Board of Directors has approved an exciting new “All-In” membership model for 2022-23. Beginning in August 2022, institutions will be able to include an unlimited number of members in their CoSIDA memberships for one institutional rate.
This new institutional membership model is built for those who prefer simplicity and savings, while providing professional development opportunities for the most number of people in all types of roles who work toward promoting your institution's brand.
After you sign up for the first time or renew your institution in August 2022, you will be able to add or remove members throughout the year without any additional costs or invoices, saving many institutions hundreds or even thousands of dollars.
“This new membership model opens up possibilities for CoSIDA to be an even stronger advocate for communications and creative professionals throughout college sports, “CoSIDA President Cindy Potter said. “The communications industry is not the same as it was 10 years ago and it will likely be different 10 years from now. What will never change is our commitment to our communications and creative community.”
During renewal, custodians will be asked to include many more of your department colleagues than you have in the past, which could include:
- Traditional sports information, media relations and strategic communications staffs
- Senior leadership from external affairs
- Content creators in social, digital, graphics and broadcasting
- Content creators with sport-specific recruiting and promotion duties
- Graduate assistants, interns and student assistants
- Retired and emeritus communications staff
- Athletic department historians and writers
- Play-by-play announcers and game-day statisticians
- Campus communications personnel
- Professors in charge of sports administration courses on campus
“We’re accomplishing a number of goals with this new membership model and have been working on it since before the pandemic started,” CoSIDA Executive Director
Doug Vance stated. “This model allows us to be a more inclusive organization for all communicators and creators at an affordable price point. It simplifies the membership renewal process and eliminates the administrative headache for our members when they have staff turnover as it relates to CoSIDA.”

FAQs
Q: How were these prices determined?
Proposals and prices were presented to all Divisional Cabinets, the Advisory Council and the Executive Board of Directors for feedback and revision over a period of two years before the final prices were deciding upon. Many pricing models were considered in an attempt to find the proper balance between achieving CoSIDA’s operational needs and taking into consideration the budgets of our member institutions at all levels. Decisions were based largely on member renewal behavior over the past three years including pre-pandemic, during the pandemic, and in the early renewal period for 2021-22.
Q: Why would I want to add non-SIDs to my membership?
CoSIDA is a year-round professional development and advocacy organization for all communications and creative professionals. As our industry evolves, there are more individuals in different roles who have a stake in the promotion of your organizational brand. The communications industry is no longer solely made up of traditional sports information directors. Adding non-SIDs to your membership allows CoSIDA to support your colleagues in parallel to the way we support you. It also allows CoSIDA to better tell the story of what we all do with a wider audience. Bringing communicators and creatives under one membership umbrella will also allow for improved sharing and collaboration for the benefit of our members and the institutions and organizations you represent.
Q: As a non-SID, why would I want to be included in a CoSIDA membership?
CoSIDA offers a wide variety of programming and support in many areas including technical skill development, leadership, important issues and topics (NIL, mental health, diversity & inclusion, Covid, and more), career services, mentorship, networking, awards recognition and advocacy. We don’t intend to inundate you with emails and communications not relevant to you. Our association is member driven, so as more non-SIDs join our organization, more opportunities and initiatives led by you can happen.
Q: Will I get any free job postings?
There are no complimentary job postings.
Q: Does this membership affect convention registration?
Convention registration will remain an additional fee for members but one that is significantly less than the non-member registration fee.
