Together for 20: Youngstown State staff members have worked together for two decades
by Will Roleson – College Sports Communicators, Associate Executive Director @wroleson
In an era when employees in many lines of work make frequent job changes, three members of Youngstown State University’s athletics communications staff have been together for an incredible 20 years.
Through changes in technology and the recent pandemic, they have supported each other in and out of the office and can’t imagine working anywhere else.
Trevor Parks has been the Director of Athletics Communications at YSU since 2000 after one year at Chattanooga. He was only 25 years old when he took charge of the Penguins’ communications department.
Jamie Hall is an assistant director and is the longest-tenured of the three, having started at Youngstown State in 1997. He recently completed his 25th year at the school and will be eligible for a CSC 25-Year Award at next summer’s convention.
Assistant director John Vogel is the newest of the three. He was a student assistant at YSU from 2002-06, followed by two years as a graduate assistant and has been full-time since 2008.
In this video with CSC Associate Executive Director Will Roleson, they share what has kept them at Youngstown for so long, why they still enjoy what they do and how they work so well together, as well as their favorite memories of the last two decades and more.
