CSC Mentorship Program Expands Offerings This Year with “Mentorship by Committee”

Entering its ninth year, the CSC mentorship program is set to expand in 2023-24 with the addition of "Mentorship by Committee" sessions throughout the year in addition to the current mentorship pairing program.

Since its inception in 2015-16, more than 800 CSC members have participated in the mentorship program, which traditionally pairs new rounds of mentors and mentees together yearly to learn from each other, grow relationships and expand networks. Registration for the 2023-24 program has closed and members of the Mentorship Committee are currently creating the pairings for the program. Those pairings will be announced later this month.

In addition to the year-long program, this year the committee will add the Mentorship by Committee sessions, which are Zoom video calls throughout the year that will touch on various topics and subject matter going on in the profession. Final topics are being finalized by the committee and will be announced throughout the year, but the sessions will focus on topics that touch CSC members throughout all divisions.

“We’re really excited about the new Mentorship by Committee offering this year,” Mentorship Committee chair Theresa Kurtz said. “This is a great opportunity for CSC members to learn new tips, tricks and techniques from our peers on topics that we all deal with in fast, compact and informative sessions. We know these new sessions will be a great compliment to our year-long mentorship program.”

Mentorship by Committee sessions will be available to all CSC members and not limited to just year-long mentorship program participants.

The new sessions were created during brainstorming meetings by the Mentorship Committee as a way to involve all CSC members and to assist professionals with overarching topics such as crossover season and working with small staffs that allow the focus to be pinpointed on those specific topics in today’s fast-paced environment. Each session will feature small panels of CSC members from various divisions and will be available on demand after the call.

The Mentorship by Committee sessions begin in November. More information on the first session and subsequent sessions throughout the year will be available on the CSC website and through weekly member communication.
