Diversity & Inclusion Programming Recap at #CSCUNITE23
The CSC Diversity and Inclusion Committee held two engaging sessions as a part of the #CSCUNITE23 programming lineup in Orlando.
 
The Conversation Circles session took an unconventional approach to the panel format with the room divided into five discussion groups – religion, intergenerational communication, mental health awareness, hiring practices and people with different abilities – to create more intimate opportunities to have open conversations about topics on the DEI space that go beyond race and sexuality. Each of the circles had active conversations and gave CSC members chances to move from topic to topic to engage in areas that meant more to them or that they wanted to learn more about.
 
The Town Hall session gave D&I Committee members the opportunity to bring forward key takeaways from the Conversation Circles, while also creating an inclusive environment for CSC members to ask questions or bring up sensitive topics. This session was truly an emotional, interactive session where the panelists and attendees opened up about personal challenges and received supportive feedback and encouragement. 
 
Congrats 2022-23 Diversity & Inclusion Fellows!
The 2022-23 class of the CSC Diversity & Inclusion Fellowship in partnership with the Knight Commission on Intercollegiate Athletics was recognized at #CSCUNITE23 during the Special Awards Luncheon. Following the presentation, the Fellows held a meet and greet to connect and celebrate being the second group of CSC members to complete the yearlong curriculum.
 
Diversity & Inclusion Panel at 2023 EAST-COMM
2022-23 CSC Diversity & Inclusion Fellow Megan O'Brien (Monmouth) and CSC Diversity & Inclusion Committee member Mindy Brauer (MIT) led a DEI open discussion at the 2023 EAST-COMM Workshop in Springfield, Mass.
 
2023-24 Diversity & Inclusion Fellowship Timeline
The application process for the 2023-24 Diversity & Inclusion Fellowship will open soon. The announcement and initial virtual meeting for the 2023-24 class will take place shortly after selections are made. Stay tuned to CSCommunicators.com for more information.
