Day two of #CSCUNITE24 was jam-packed with programming, starting with the annual 5K charity fun run/two-mile walk and concluding with the All-Star Night of Honors.

Leading off Monday, over 300 participants rose bright and early to take part in the 14th CSC 5K fun run/two-mile walk. Organized by the CSC Goodwill and Wellness Committee, over $6,000 were raised. The funds will assist the Three Square Food Bank of Southern Nevada, a local organization providing food assistance to those in need.

Divisional Day began the day’s educational programming, as division-specific sessions took place throughout the Mandalay Bay North Convention Center. Highlights from each level included:
  • NCAA DI members held a great discussion as they learned more about “NIL and how that landscape is changing the definition of “media.”
  • Two NCAA DII members were recognized for their contributions to athletic communications: Michael MacEachern (Georgia College and State University) for his work as NCAA DII Cabinet president and D2SIDA president and Dick Lipe (Bentley University) for his commitment to excellence in DII throughout his 40-plus year career at the D2 institution.
  • The annual change in leadership for D3SIDA looked a little different this year, as there was a “virtual” passing of the presidential gavel between incoming president Ali Paquette (Middlebury College) and outgoing president Amie Canfield (UMass Dartmouth). This was the first time in the organization’s history that two women participated in the ceremony. And, why the virtual gavel pass? Ali is back home in Middlebury, Vermont after giving birth to her first child, Hadley Elizabeth on Sunday - timed right for the first day of CSCUNITE24! Congratulations to Ali and husband Ryan on the birth of their daughter!
  • During the NAIA’s Ike Pearson Award Reception, NAIA director of athletic communications Brad Cygan received the Ike Pearson Lifetime Achievement Award.
  • Two-year college hosted “How to promote struggling programs: Make it sound good when it isn’t” to an overflow room of CSC members for all divisions, as everyone left well-prepared with how to cover their non-winning programs.
  • “Storytelling and leveraging student-athlete brand power to help promote our programs in the age of NIL” was a highlight during Canadian Divisional Day, informing members on new ways to create and amplify the stories of their student-athletes to align with both the student-athlete's personal brand and the mission and brand of the institution. Special presenter was Chris Aumueller, the founder and CEO of FanWord.
  • “Conference story time” during Conference Office Divisional Day taught members the most effective ways and tools to promote your championships and gather story ideas from your membership.

A newly formatted All-Star Night of Honors, hosted by ESPN’s Holly Rowe, finished off the day. The award winners recognized include the six members of the CSC Hall of Fame Class of 2024, the Warren Berg Award, Arch Ward Award, Jake Wade Award, Mary Jo Haverbeck Trailblazer Award, Keith Jackson Eternal Flame Award, seven Lifetime Achievement Award recipients, four inductees into the Academic All-America Hall of Fame and the Dick Enberg Award winner. The CSC Hall of Fame Class of 2024 is comprised of John Bianco (Texas), Lisa Champagne (NESCAC), the late Beano Cook (Pittsburgh/ABC/ESPN; posthumous), Will Roleson (CSC), Tim Tolokan (Connecticut; retired), and Amy Yakola (ACC).
