Designer and Photographer of the Year winners announced live at #CSCUnite24

On the final day of #CSCUnite24 Wednesday held at Mandalay Bay, the results of this year’s Creative & Digital Design Contest were announced.
 
As part of new and expanded recognition efforts in this year’s program, finalists for the Portfolio Contests were invited to the 2024 edition of the convention, with the winners being announced at Wednesday’s Special Awards Luncheon.
 
Vice Chairman of the Creative & Digital Design Contest Patrick Murphy, who was in attendance at convention, had this to say on the results of this year’s contest: “On behalf of myself and Chairman Riley Baker, I would like to thank all this year’s participants in the Creative & Digital Design Contest. I’d also like to give a big thank you to all the CSC members who volunteered their time as contest coordinators and judges. I know we implemented some new changes this year and there was a learning curve as there is with any new methodology, but we appreciate your time and effort into making this contest a successful on this year.”
 
Murphy went on to add, “I want to congratulate all of our winners and honorees for all of their excellent work. After personally reviewing almost every single entry that earned recognition, I can honestly say without hesitation that there are so many talented and innovative individuals in our industry at every level of collegiate athletics. I am blown away by the creativity I have seen and look forward to seeing this contest continue to grow in the coming years.”
 
This year’s Designer of the Year Awards went to Ava Buric of UCF in the University Division and Robert Stacy with Connor Lanteigne of Queen’s University in the College Division. Finalists included Tim Hepler of Air Force, Cooper Lee from Houston in the University Division and Josh Neuhart of Grace (Ind.), Dustin Eichten and Lukas Heydt from MSU Moorhead and Thomas Klemick with Kendis Butler from Penn State Harrisburg in the College Division.
 
Photographer of the Year honors went to Malloreigh Yingling from Richmond in the University Division while Hannah Robb of St. Olaf College took home top marks in the College Division. University Division finalists included Zach Wooldridge and Zack Madison Howard from Air Force and Eckerd’s Brittany Iamele, Lynchburg’s Caroline Gerke and William Penn’s Jordan Lester in the College Division.
 
As for the rest of the field, a total of 454 total places were recognized in overall contest results and the new “Best Of” categories in the College Division for Division II, Division III, the NAIA, two-year schools, high school members, and Canadian Institutions. Comprising those places were entries from 102 schools and 210 individuals, working either solo on entries or collaborating with others.
 
Embry-Riddle (FL) led all participating schools with 34 total places earned followed by Grace (Ind.) with 29, Oklahoma with 23 and Air Force with an even 20. An additional nine schools also earned double-digit accolades as Washburn (18), Indian Hills Community College (15), MSU Moorhead (14), Eckerd (14), Slippery Rock (13), Gustavus Adolphus (11), The Lovett School (11), Buena Vista (10) and Carson-Newman (10) were consistently ranked near the top in several categories.
  
This year’s field of participants saw more than 1,600 entries, an increase of 69% from last year’s contest and included 697 entries from the University Division and 921 from the College Division. Division II led that division with 391 entries, with 243 from Division III, 121 from the NAAI, 44 from two-year colleges, 19 from the high school ranks and 11 from Canadian Institutions. The most popular contest across both divisions was Non-Game Day Graphics while the best- performing new contest was Short Form Videos/Reels, which saw a total of 198 combined entries.
