As #CSCUNITE24 comes to a close, the CSC Executive Board of Directors and staff would like to thank the nearly 900 attendees, corporate partners and exhibitors for their participation at our annual event. We congratulate all our award recipients and thank our speakers and moderators for their insights. Thanks to our partners whose generous support helped make this all possible.

As the fourth and final day of #CSCUNITE24 comes to a close, friends and colleagues — old and new — gave their goodbyes, high fives, hugs and fist bumps for another fantastic week of fellowship, connections, inspirational moments and learning.

The four days at the Mandalay Bay Convention Center in Las Vegas saw nearly 900 attend our convention. CSC hosted two awards ceremonies, recognizing 104 total individuals - the best-of-the-best athletic communicators and our colleagues. This included spotlighting our newest inductees into the CSC Hall of Fame and CSC Academic All-America Hall of Fame. There were 66 educational and professional development panels, educational lounges and breakouts - many of which were standing-room only - with 184 different speakers. Additionally, there were numerous receptions, social events and corporate partner showcases.

The final day of programming provided a great line of forums that sent our members home with a wealth of knowledge and fellowship. The morning sessions included instruction on best practices for cultivating creative content, how to make the switch from athletic communications to administration, and strategies on writing and storytelling from professional writers themselves. The afternoon was highlighted with our annual Special Awards luncheon presented by Intent, a chance to highlight the great things our membership is doing in our organization and throughout our profession as a whole.

Four Educational Lounges focusing on creative content provided attendees with a chance to grow in photography, social media, video and graphic design. Speakers David Le (Endicott College), Katie Mucci (NCAA Division III), Patrick Murphy (Colorado School of Mines), Temi Bajulaiye (Babson College) and Cara Kaye (Michigan State University) all provided context on their expertise with their individual experiences and shared recommendations on what has and has not worked for them.

Inside the “Leveling up: Making the jump from athletic communications to administration,” participants Emily Dorko (Adelphi University), Katie Gonzales (Illinois Wesleyan University), and Nick Joos (Iowa State University) discussed their journeys to an administrative role in their respective athletic departments in a panel moderated by CSC Second Vice President Patrick Crawford.

Later in the morning, members heard from writing professionals Willie Ramirez (freelance sports writer), Justin Whitaker (NCAA), Matt Brown (Extra Points) and moderator Miles McQuiggan (Coastal Athletic Conference) in “Writing and storytelling strategies: Top writing tips for 2024 and beyond.” The panel explored how to navigate the ups and downs of writing and how to effectively tell stories.

The final and main event of the afternoon was the CSC Special Awards luncheon, presented by Intent. Hosted by CSC Hall-of-Famer Amy Yakola (ACC), members were awarded the Bob Kenworthy Community Service Award, two CSC Achievement Awards, 12 25-Year Awards, the Lester Jordan Award, four Rising Star Awards and five President’s Awards. Other recognitions included the Creative and Digital Design Contest winners, ChangeMaker Innovation Award winners, the 30 Under 30 Class of 2023 and the 2023-24 Diversity and Inclusion Fellowship Class.

Hoping all of our attendees and colleagues have a wonderful and restful summer, and we look forward to seeing everyone next June 8-11 at the #CSCUNITE25 Convention taking place at the World Center Marriott Resort in Orlando.
