Presented to College Sports Communicators members who have completed 25 years in the athletics communications profession. Vetted and voted on by the Special Awards Committee.

Will Roleson – College Sports Communicators Associate Executive Director

Will Roleson was promoted to Associate Executive Director of College Sports Communicators in January 2017, following 5 ½ years as Director of Internal Operations. His primary responsibilities are convention management and financial operations, with additional duties in staff management and corporate partner outreach.

During his tenure on staff, he has launched the Membership Appreciation Week, Convention Attendance Grant and National Champion Communicators programs. Roleson served as Interim Executive Director of College Sports Communicators from August 2024 to March 2025. In that role, he provided strategic leadership for the association, coordinated corporate partnership sales, managed the full-time staff and was the primary liaison with the executive board of directors.

He was inducted into the CSC Hall of Fame in 2024 and received the CSC President's Award in 2025.

Nick Joos, Iowa State University Senior Associate AD: “For nearly a decade, Will Roleson has faithfully and passionately served the more than 4,000 members of College Sports Communicators. He is the consummate professional who has been dedicated to the athletics communications industry since his days as an undergraduate student at Miami University under CSC Hall of Famer Dave Young. Will has played an integral role in CSC’s growth and membership outreach activities while leading the organization’s internal operations to advance CSC. But, beyond his dedication and loyalty to CSC, he is a great husband to his wife, Cristy, and father to his sons Noah, Jonah and Elijah. I’ve been blessed to have known Will for nearly 30 years, in large part through CSC, and I congratulate him on this honor, which reflects his hard work and dedication to his craft.”

Jeff Hodges, CSC Secretary / University of North Alabama, Historian: “Will Roleson is easily one of the most important figures in College Sports Communicators history. Having served on the organization's full-time staff since 2011, Will has been CSC's chief financial officer during some of the most pivotal changes in its history and provided tremendous leadership and direction while assuring that CSC has a strong financial foundation. Will also serves as CSC's Convention Coordinator, has served as Interim Executive Director and provides great strategic leadership for the organization. He is a great leader, colleague and friend and CSC is very fortunate to have him.”

Cindy Potter, Columbia College Athletic Director: “Will Roleson's unwavering dedication, integrity, and deep commitment to the communications profession are to be commended. For over 25 years, his leadership, mentorship, and service have made a lasting impact on countless students, colleagues, and the broader collegiate athletics community. Will’s consistency, professionalism, and genuine care for people have elevated every program and institution he has touched, and he is truly deserving of this recognition from CSC.”

Doug Vance, Former CSC Executive Director, Kansas/CoSIDA (CSC): “Our national organization is much stronger because Will Roleson has played a significant role in the leadership of it for nearly three decades. As a member of the profession and national staff, Will has demonstrated unwavering loyalty and consistent dedication to the growth of CSC and the profession it serves.”
