CoSIDA Membership Recognition Week Video: J.D. Campbell of Indiana
J.D. Campbell is in his 13th year promoting Hoosier Athletics, coming to the Big Ten Conference campus from Bowling Green University. He’s served in collegiate athletic communications for 33 years in the heart of the country, with prior stops at NCAA Division II Emporia State and NJCAA member Johnson County Community College.
J.D. sat down for an interview with David Gibson, IU’s digital and social media assistant, to talk about his PR philosophies, building a staff, changes in our industry, and so much more.
Campbell also teaches a class in college sport media relations as part of the university’s Sport Industry Studies curriculum. This year, in lieu of a traditional textbook, Campbell has required his 50-plus students to purchase a CoSIDA student membership for the 2019-20 academic year. He talks in depth about his reasons during the video interview.
