Virtual Convention FAQs

Who: Everyone … CoSIDA members, non-member SIDs, other college athletics professionals, students, media members, etc.

What: #CoSIDA21 Convention

When: Main convention dates are Monday-Thursday, June 7-10

Why: Education, networking and fun … and, best of all, it’s free!

How: Via CoSIDA’s new Attendee Hub platform

What is the cost for the convention:
We are excited to provide all sessions free of charge to members and non-members.

How do I register?
All dues-paying CoSIDA members for 2020-21 will be automatically registered for the convention. Non-members may register for free beginning May 10.

What platform will be used?
All main convention sessions, awards ceremonies and the virtual exhibit hall will be delivered via CoSIDA’s new Attendee Hub.

Will the sessions be live or taped?
Most educational panels will be live with others being shown live from tape. Some of the taped sessions will include a live Q&A to follow.

Will the sessions also be available on-demand?
Yes, all educational sessions will be available on-demand after their original time on the Attendee Hub for 90 days.

Who are this year’s keynote speakers?
The opening keynote will be Transform Your Self-Confidence and Accelerate Your Career with Dr. Ivan Joseph, a former national team soccer coach, professor and athletic director. The closing keynote will be Controlling the Message and Content Management & Creation with Joanne C. Gerstner, an award-winning sports journalist, author and researcher.

Will there be Divisional Day sessions?
Yes, the always-popular Divisional Days are scheduled as follows: Canadian institutions (May 27), two-year colleges (June 11), NAIA (June 14), Division II (June 15), Division III (June 15) and Division I (June 16). Specific times and sessions will be available on the convention home page.

Will there be any other sessions?
Yes, the annual State of the Association featuring 2020-21 CoSIDA President Sam Atkinson and Executive Director Doug Vance will kick off the convention on Monday, June 7, at 11:30 AM (ET). A Presidents’ Roundtable with Past President Herb Vincent, President Sam Atkinson and President-Elect Cindy Potter will be held Thursday, June 10, at 11:15 AM (ET), followed by the Annual Business Meeting at 11:45.

Will there be awards ceremonies to honor the CoSIDA Hall of Fame and Academic All-America Hall of Fame classes?
Yes, our hall of fame classes will be celebrated in taped ceremonies each evening of the convention per the following schedule: 2020 Academic All-America Hall of Fame (June 7), 2020 CoSIDA Hall of Fame (June 8), 2021 Academic All-America Hall of Fame (June 9) and 2021 CoSIDA Hall of Fame (June 10). All ceremonies will begin at 7 PM (ET).

Will there be an exhibit hall?
Yes, CoSIDA is pleased to offer a virtual exhibit hall to connect our attendees with our corporate partners and other exhibitors. In the new Attendee Hub, you’ll find information about these companies and organizations and also be able to set up Zoom meetings with their representatives. More details will be available soon.

What about the Educational Lounge training sessions?
The Educational Lounge sessions will be available in July. More information will be provided later this summer.

Will there be any social activities during the convention?
Yes, CoSIDA is planning an Esports golf tournament in conjunction with one of our new corporate partners with the finals to be held during convention week. In addition, there will be a Trivia Night the week prior to the convention. More information to come on both events.

What about the annual Fun Run and Walk?
For a $15 donation, you can run a 5k or walk 2 miles between June 5-15 to support the Goodwill & Wellness Committee’s contribution to the Orlando-based Frontline SportsCenter Youth Network, a program that teaches students to sportscast live games and be part of a broadcasting crew. Can I contribute to the community service project?
Yes, CoSIDA has partnered with Frontline Outreach to help fund the Frontline SportsCenter Youth Network. Click here to donate to this worthwhile project.
