2021 CoSIDA U Programming presented by Capital One

CoSIDA U programming is designed for students, interns and newcomers to the sports communications profession. In 2021, these sessions will be held Wednesday-Thursday, June 2-3.

Wednesday, June 2
1:00 PM What is an SID?
The panelists will talk about some of the basic functions of the athletic communications profession, how the job is different at the different levels (NCAA Division I, Division II, Division III, NAIA, two-year schools, etc.) and give a 30,000-foot view of the job.

2:30 PM  PR and Working with People
Panelists will discuss the wide range of constituencies the SID must work with, and the interpersonal and people skills necessary to be successful as a SID.

1:00 PM Why is Writing Well Important?
A discussion on the continuing importance of communicating through written word, even in the era of social media, graphics and other technologies.

2:15 PM Statkeeping Basics
Panelists will discuss a starting point for SIDs who have no experience with operating current statistics programs.  Where does one start?

3:30 PM Current Technology Basics
Panelists will discuss the current use of photography, video and other tech to create graphics and imagery to promote an athletics program.
