NCAA Division I Divisional Day

10:30 AM – 11:20 AM: Dealing with Burnout/Stress/Staff Attrition
What makes you stay in this profession? What might send you out? What brings you back? We will discuss how work and its demands affect you as a person, what do you hope for or want from a leader to address issues, advocating for yourself, and techniques and skills to help you navigate the challenges in our business.

ESPN personality Neil Everett is one of our own. Neil was the Sports Information Director and later an Assistant Athletic Director at Hawai‘i Pacific University for 15 years while he started his television career in Hawai‘i. He has a unique outlook on both our industry as well as the television world.

2:30 PM - 5:00 PM: Make Game Day Yours Training
NCAA Division II has partnered with the Disney Institute to create the Make Game Day Yours initiative that is intended to create a more positive game environment at Division II contests and promote excellent customer service to fans. An abbreviated training will be made available to Division II attendees at the CoSIDA Convention as part of Divisional Day on Tuesday, June 28, from 2:30-5 pm PT.Participants will discover the Disney approach to exceptional service and the foundation for the Make Game Day Yours initiative. Participants will experience a 90-minute training exercise created specifically for the Division II membership to implement on campuses to improve the game day environment and game day experience. 

Separate registration is required for this training by Tuesday, May 31. This training is limited to CoSIDA Convention attendees from NCAA Division II institutions and conferences only. To register: CoSIDA.com/register

Athletic communications directors’ responsibilities are changing and much of the role’s evolution can be attributed to new expectations around using technology. The old days of simply doing in-game statistics, post-game recaps and distributing information to the media are long gone, however, understanding the fundamental skills of sports information is critical as the industry continues to evolve into the broader descriptor of athletic communications. Join in as we sit down and discuss the transformation from SID to athletics communications and the importance of getting back to the basics for those just entering the field

Even in 2022, stereotypes about gender still remain. Working in media and communications, we have the opportunity to change these norms, whether it is promoting a balanced coverage of men's and women's sports, promoting/hiring women in roles, and being an advocate (for yourself or someone else). Join the discussion on gender equity, geared toward all males and females in D3 athletics.
