Achievement Award
Presented annually to two College Sports Communicators members – one in the University Division (NCAA DI) and one in the College Division (NCAA DII, DIII, NAIA, Two-year Colleges, Canadian institutions) – currently serving in the role of an associate or assistant director in the athletics communications field who have made outstanding contributions to the field of athletics communications and provided exceptional service to their institution, conference office or intercollegiate athletics affiliated association.

A nominee must have 10-or-more years of experience in the athletics communications profession and must have not served in the lead role overseeing an athletics communications office. This award is designed for an individual who has not been a recipient of any prestigious CSC major award (Arch Ward, Warren Berg, Hall of Fame) in their careers. Voted on by the Special Awards Committee.

Troy Andre — University of Colorado Associate Director of Athletic Communications

“I am humbled and honored to receive this Achievement Award from CSC. Over 25-plus years, I've been blessed to learn and grow professionally from a Hall of Fame list of mentors, George Ellis and Jeff Schwartz at North Dakota State, Bob Nygaard at Minnesota-Duluth and David Plati here at Colorado. And currently, attempting to navigate the ever-changing landscape of college athletics with my long-time colleague and friend, CU Associate AD Curtis Snyder. We are in a behind-the-scenes, grind-it-out, with little notoriety profession, so it is in moments like this, being recognized is truly special. Congratulations to all 2026 CSC Special Award winners.” — Troy Andre, 2026 CSC Achievement Award, University Division recipient

Troy Andre is in his 23rd year with the University of Colorado athletic department, currently serving as associate director of athletic communications. He joined the Colorado staff as an assistant director in 2003. He was promoted to associate director in 2016.

Andre is the contact for Colorado’s men’s basketball and women’s golf programs while serving as the department’s webmaster for CUBuffs.com, the school’s official athletics website. He served as the primary contact for women’s basketball from 2004-15 and volleyball from 2003-05.

In 2023, Andre was awarded an “Honorary C” letter from the school’s Alumni C Club, which is presented to those for their dedication of service or contributions to CU Athletics.

A member of College Sports Communicators since 1996, he has served on the prestigious Academic All-America® committee since 2003.

Prior to Colorado, Andre worked for five years (1998-2003) at Minnesota-Duluth both as the assistant sports information director and ticket manager.

For 18 years, Andre worked as a stringer for Major League Baseball Advanced Media, running the Gameday software for Colorado Rockies home games. He was part of the media coordination staff for the 2007 World Series, which the Rockies played in.

He graduated in 1996 from the University of Northern Colorado with a bachelor’s degree in journalism and mass communication with an emphasis in public relations and advertising. He attended graduate school at North Dakota State University, majoring in mass communication, and worked for two years as a graduate assistant in NDSU's sports information office (1996-98).

Curtis Snyder, University of Colorado Associate Athletic Director/Communications, past CSC 25-Year Award recipient: “For more than two decades, Troy has been a constant and a cornerstone in our office. His professionalism, reliability, and deep experience on both the PR side and managing our website have made him an invaluable part of our team and our success. This recognition reflects the lasting impact he’s had on our department and the respect he’s earned across the industry.”

David Plati, University of Colorado Athletics Historian/SID Emeritus, CSC Hall of Famer: “Troy is the perfect example of someone who first made their "bones" in Division II, where he developed a solid work ethic and no doubt fell in love with the profession. Those of us in Division I need to appreciate what someone has accomplished at smaller schools, often one- or two-person shops and often with more sports than we sponsor. He has been a terrific and dedicated member of our staff since he joined us in 2003, and is very worthy of this special CSC honor!”

Neill Woelk, University of Colorado Athletics Contributing Editor, Boulder Daily Camera: “I have known Troy since he was a cub reporter covering the Denver Broncos some 30 years ago. I had the opportunity to see his work both as an editor and reporter at the local newspaper, as well as later when I worked for CU Athletics and he was my supervisor. Troy is the consummate pro in every regard. He cares first about student-athletes, coaches and the university; and never, ever lets his ego get in the way of what's best for the CU Buffaloes. He is clearly well-deserving of this recognition, as he has established a standard of excellence, commitment and dedication throughout his career. Congratulations, Troy.”
