The 2022-23 College Sports Communicators Professional Development and Continuing Education Webinar Series is presented by Capital One. This page will be updated throughout the year as more programming is added.

Attending live and on-demand professional development programming is a benefit reserved for CSC members. All live and on-demand sessions are available to watch throughout the 2022-23 academic year on the member only Attendee Hub.

Access the member-only Attendee Hub. You will need to enter your name and email address associated with your College Sports Communicators membership to receive an access code. Codes are delivered to your email or mobile device from our Cvent software almost immediately.

If you don't receive a code and believe you should have member access, contact a member of the CSC staff to troubleshoot. To purchase membership, click here. Note that membership purchase does not grant immediate access to the Attendee Hub.

Professional development programming is coordinated by the Professional Development Committee, chaired by Second Vice President Kevin Trainor and Third Vice President Mary Beth Challoner, and administered by Director of Professional Development and External Affairs Barb Kowal. Contact Trainor, Challoner or Kowal to submit your topic ideas or express your interest in presenting.

Our continuing education focuses on embracing what it means to be a lifelong learner. It's about learning, responding and adapting, to growing trends and new practices that can be incorporated in our daily professional lives, expanding our knowledge of strategic and crisis communications, writing and editing, digital and video content creation, digital and how-to toolkits, media relations and much more.

Following each live webinar, you'll have the chance to complete a brief survey. Please use these opportunities to help us shape future educational opportunities.
All sessions will be available to members to watch on-demand, typically within a few hours of the live presentation, and many will be available in audio format through most popular podcasting platforms. Selected sessions may be available to watch via YouTube.

About: Teachable Tuesdays & Building Knowledge Monthly Webinars

These sessions, usually held on Tuesdays or Wednesdays, are on general, timely topics. They often are geared to have broad interest across the full membership but may also be targeted to a specific demographic. They are coordinated by members of the Professional Development and Education Committee.

About: NAIA-SIDA Continuing Education

This series is targeted to members at NAIA institutions but all members are welcome to attend. Sessions are typically held the second Tuesday of each month. These Teachable Tuesday webinars will provide insightful and hands-on training programming for athletic communications professionals.

The NAIA-SIDA Board is always interested in receiving topic ideas and hosts/presenters for upcoming sessions. If you are interested in serving as a presenter a webinar or have ideas for topics, please contact NAIA-SIDA President Chris Wells, Lindsey Wilson College wellsc@lindsey.edu or First Vice President: Donnie Smith, Southeastern (Fla.), at dsmith@seu.edu.

About: Leadership Series

The June Stewart Leadership Series debuted in the Fall of 2019 as part of our year-round professional development and continuing education program for our members. For 2021-22, this became our Leadership Series. The leadership programming showcases noted speakers and experts who address members on timely communications and leadership topics and issues. Speakers will include those in intercollegiate administration and outside college athletics.

This series was named in honor of the late June Stewart who served as the organization's first female president during the 1990-91 academic year. Stewart was a longtime Vanderbilt University administrator and a pioneer for women in college athletics. The series was created in honor of Stewart's great leadership, her love and commitment to the profession and her legacy in giving back to College Sports Communicators.

Designed exclusively for our members, this series of webinars and podcasts will offer perspectives on leadership and perspectives on managing and directing collegiate athletic communications.

About: Racial & Social Justice Initiative

Debuting in 2020-21, this series includes conversations, events, learning opportunities and resource-sharing focusing on racial and social justice in the United States, in intercollegiate athletics and as part of the athletics communications profession. This professional development initiative from the Executive Board of Directors is coordinated primarily by members of the Advocacy and Diversity & Inclusion committees. About: Educational Lounges

The Educational Lounges that we offer are 'learning lab," training and "how-to" content on a varierty of subjects, short instructional tutorials or webinar/podcast sessions. These are offered at various times throughout the year and during the annual convention. Members who are interested in presenting on a topic, or who have a topic idea, can contact Barb Kowal, Director of External Affairs and Professional Development (barbkowal@cosida.com).

About: CANSIDA Continuing Education

Canadian Sports Information Directors (CANSIDA) professional development sessions are conducted throughout the academic year, and are open to all members and our colleagues, regardless of division.
