Add to that the work he’s doing to plan for CSC U’s virtual camp June 1-2 and his participation as a DEI fellow and you’ll find Colin contemplating his role and the health of the profession in great detail as we head into the spring. Focus on Diversity & Inclusion

Each month, CSC’s Diversity and Inclusion Committee shares best practices and resources for members on various social media platforms. Follow this space each month for a recap of what’s been shared to date.

Four DEI practitioners to follow:

Kyle Williams & Kamal Carter
A Long Talk - A Long Talk About the Uncomfortable Truth
@ALongTalk2020 / @KyleWilliamsD2i

  • Williams, Carter and their team bring three learning targets to the table in this anti-racism activation experience – 1) Unpacking Your Truth, 2) Finding Your Voice, and 3) Activating Your Activism. Participants are given pre-work that serves to provide a common foundational understanding of the issue, then engage in two 2-hour sessions online or in-person. The experience is orchestrated as a series of reflective conversations where participants are asked to listen, view and respond in real time in both large and small group settings.

Nevin Caple
ROI - Return on Inclusion
@NevinCaple / @ROInclusion

  • Caple and her team recently announced a partnership with CSC partner NACDA to bring an online learning platform to coaches and administrators dedicated to developing inclusive leaders and fostering a culture of belonging across social and cultural differences. It is a self-paced program to help every coach and athletic administrator develop the skills and competencies necessary to support student-athletes and achieve inclusive excellence in programs, practices and policies.

Dr. Jen Fry
Jen Fry Talks
@jenfrytalks

  • Fry consults, delivers keynote speeches and offers a variety of workshops and trainings for athletics departments around the country. She has created the Sports Equity Collaborative program for those who want to be a changemaker in sports.

Dr. Richard Lapchick
TIDES - The Institute for Diversity and Ethics in Sports
@RichardLapchick / @TIDES_Org

  • Lapchick and his team have been producing the Racial and Gender Report Card since the early 2000s. The Institute serves as a comprehensive resource for issues related to gender and race in amateur, collegiate and professional sports and the media. TIDES continues to partner with other organizations on a variety of initiatives including Branded A Leader and Shut Out Trafficking.
